I’m 40 now - I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since my ‘turning 30’ post on the blog. I celebrated by renting out a movie theater for some epic local multiplayer gaming (go Overcooked and Halo Reach!) with old friends from high school, college, and work who came in from all over the country, plus my immediate family. Thanks to everyone who was involved, especially the folks who travelled far to see me, and to my lovely wife, who organized everything and somehow managed to surprise me with coordinated appearances from friends across many different states. My favorite shot of the fun times at the movie theater:

My career moves over the last 10 years (Google->Celonis->VideoAmp, IC->manager->exec) are pretty well-covered in my blog already, as are my major family changes (home ownership, dad x2). What is less well-covered is the smorgasbord of personal projects - keep an eye on ariwilson.com, which is soon to be updated. A preview of the biggest: three useful web apps at starculture.xyz.

Anyone who’s celebrated a birthday with me knows I always ask for wisdom. And anyone who read my 30th birthday post knows I used to have plenty of my own to dispense. Ten years later, here’s everything I’ve got:

  • Just live your life, dude. Life is great and short. Enjoy it while you can, and don’t overthink the good times while they’re happening — as they are to me right now. :)
