Saw The Terminal today. Wasn’t a bad flick but not all that. Tom Hanks is finally respectable again, though.
Also got some more reading. I finished Div, Grad, Curl and All That while waiting for my meningitis vaccine (go look up the Poisson Equation to realize how brilliant vector calculus is: beats the crap out of the infinite summation equation they started with for electric field density. And now I understand electricity and the right-hand rule! ROCK) and going through my Outline of Linear Algebra is a little boring (although I’d like to throw shouts out to my friends vector spaces and diagonalization: Laplace transform, you shall soon be mine!). So I picked up three books at Tower Records today: for a back-breaking $5.90 (;p):
“Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions” by Edwin A. Abbott
”Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad
”Beyond Good and Evil” by Friedrich Nietzsche
Edit: Wow, the last one is on my Ethics reading list. Might as well put the books here in case I have the inclination to read them at some point during the summer:
J.S. Mill, Utilitarianism
Joseph Butler, Five Sermons
Epictetus, The Manual
Immanuel Kant, Foundations of the Metaphysics of Morals
Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil
Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics, Book 1., 2., 3., 4. i-iv, 10.
