Roll call today was an exercise in frustration as I couldn’t contact Max or Sunny. I ended up hanging out in the lobby with Internet until about 9 when I knocked on their door only to have to wait another 45 minutes.
Finally, everyone was up and we headed for coffee and food. Along the way, we saw ads for H&M’s summer leopard print bikinis as well as Kung Fu Panda 2. These media properties would follow us for the rest of our trip, no matter which country we escaped to.
Breakfast was meat pierogi in Warsaw’s reconstructed Old Town. We went to the old King’s Palace, getting some ice cream on the way. We went into a few churches and investigated Polish real estate ($150k for a 2 bedroom? eh). Eventually, we headed back to the Stalinesque Museum of Culture to take in the view. Unfortunately, about this time, my SD card purchased in Hong Kong for my (then new) camera happened to die, taking with it most of the pictures from before this portion of the trip.
A quick nap later, we walked to dinner and had some goulash. Later we went to a microbrewery, where I had a 60% beer 40% Sprite drink that made Max shake his head with shame but really wasn’t so bad. I had a pretty bad nosebleed (really? I never get nosebleeds) so I headed back to the hotel and read until 8 in the morning. Max and Sunny stayed out for another drink and apparently saw a violin / metal promotional concert for “The Witcher 2”, developed in Poland.
