On the Yamanote line on my way to Akihabara. What an adventure in Jokyo (Tokyo) so far! Saw Shibuya this morning and Ikebukuro last night. I forgot how dead the long flight out here makes you, especially when you are literally the last people on the plane to pick your seats. What kind of stupid airline lets you pick your seats between 90-3 days before the flight, anyways! And serves the worst part of Korean cusine (vegetables) for dinner from stewardesses who don’t really speak English! At least I finally caught Alice in Wonderland and Book of Eli, which both met expectations. No one at Narita would rent me a SIM card so international roaming time it is for me. Raynor also left his rail pass at home which we noticed when in LA, so he’s been buying tickets as we go (which I then get duplicated for me). Other than that, though, everything’s great! Our room is a little cramped but we managed to turn a room with one bed into two via smacking a futon. We’ve got our tickets for the trip to Osaka and Pete’s house. It’s amazing what you can get done via charades and pointing i.e. getting a JR rep to duplicate a reserved seat train ticket. And so far yummy KFC food and FamilyMart sandwiches. Hopefully we’ll be a bit more adventurous once we’ve been in the country for more than 24 hours!
